So you've decided to ride... now what?
Congratulations! Riding is a skill. We encourage all new riders to take a course.
Those returning to riding can also benefit from a refresher course. There is always something new to learn.
Getting ready for your motorcycle training course means being prepared with gear suitable for riding and allowing yourself time to get the right items.
Gear Fitment
When your motorcycle gear fits properly you won't be focusing on it. You can focus on riding. We carry multiple brands to provide a selection for you to choose from. If you have an idea as to what you like, send us a note and we will let you know if we have the item in stock. If we don't have it we can likely bring it to the store for you to try. This does mean we need a few days so please give us time to get you the right items.
Gear for Your Course
All riding motorcycle training classes will require full motorcycle gear and apparel. Please check with them to ensure your motorcycle gear meets their requirements. We suggest bringing what you plan on wearing to the in-class portion to make sure it's accepted.
Motorcycle gear and apparel sold at Simply Moto has been accepted at various training programs in Ontario. In fact, we know a great number of instructors at the various courses. James even used to teach!
We understand that you might be trying the sport for the first time and you aren't sure what style of bike you will be getting or what style you want. That's why we stock a variety of options for you to choose from.
Your course will require:
- Helmet
- Gloves
- Jacket
- Pants
- Footwear
We stock these items at the shop and order in products as required for you. We can help.
An important thing to note is that you should check the weather for your course date to ensure the gear you have will keep you protected from the elements. This may include rain gear, insulated gloves, vented jackets. We have all this and more.
Remember, the courses run rain or shine so being prepared will help you focus on the learning.
Taking a motorcycle training course and need some help with gear?
Give us a call or stop by the shop. If we can't find the item for you, or if we don't carry a particular brand, we will direct you to other stores that sell those products. While we value your business, we want you to be happy with your purchase, whether that's from our store or elsewhere.
A Note About Helmets
It is essential to have a helmet that is your own. Borrowing or renting a helmet is not recommended. There are a variety of budget friendly options for new riders. When you purchase your own helmet you know the history and the age of the helmet. Over time, you will acquire many helmets (and gloves and jackets and more) in your riding adventures.

All motorcycle training courses will require motorcycle gear. Please check with your course to ensure the gear you have meets their standards.
At Simply Moto, we can help outfit you from head to toe.
Not all gear is created equal and sizing is quite varied. You will want to try gear and apparel on to find the best fit, trust us. We encourage you to give yourself time to find gear that fits before your course. If we need to order an item to the store for you it will require delivery times. We are experiencing some delays with shipments so please reach out to us sooner rather than later so we can best accommodate your needs.
